One of my favorite responses to patients asking “how long will I need Chiropractic care”, is, “only as long as you want to remain Functioning well and Healthy!” It sounds like a cliche. But your body and how well it functions is determined by how well it responds to physical, chemical, and emotional stressors that apply pressure to us each and every day of our lives.
When this pressure overwhelms our bodies, we end up with inflammation, pain, and disease. When the physical, chemical, and emotional strength of our body exceeds the level of stress, we remain healthy.
Gravity is always trying to push us down at 9.8 meters per second squared. As I discussed in a previous blog, this is why everyone could use spinal decompression. It is gravity that never lets up! 24/7/365 gravity is always placing stress on our physical well-being and is the very reason why weightlifting makes us stronger.
Our axial skeletal system has two primary purposes. One is to give us an internal structure, so we are not a gelatinous blob. Two is that our spinal column is an internal bony-plated armor that protects our central nervous system from trauma. If the very structure that protects our central nervous system from trauma ends up putting pressure on the sensitive nervous system we end up with a biomechanical, functional deficit. This is where Chiropractic comes in.
Chiropractors are trained to locate, analyze and correct vertebral subluxations that interfere with the proper function of the central nervous system. The central nervous system controls and coordinates every other system of the body and ensures that we remain in homeostasis. Therefore, when gravity exceeds our limitations of matter, we lose our ability to function well and remain healthy!
Ultimately, we are always trying to withstand the forces of gravity and remain healthy. But, in the end, gravity always wins because none of us are getting out of here alive! LOL!!! Death and taxes…….
Put up a good fight against gravity and use Chiropractic care to help you live a long, healthy life!!!!
